Dog Sled Adventure Tour (half day dog sled tour)

The Sled dog is an important part of the Greenlandic culture, and has historically been the only means of transportation when the landscape was frozen and covered in snow. The dog sled ride will go exactly as the way the locals do it. Which are owned by locals who use the dogs for hunting, fishing as well as tourism, but some just own the dogs as a spare time activity. Both types of owners play an incredibly important role in the preservation of the dog sled culture in Greenland. Which one of the dog sled owners you will join on a dog sled ride, depends on which one is available on that given day. Some owners are talkative and are multilingual, whereas some are quieter and introvert. But what both have in common, is, that they want you to have an unique experience. You will be seated as a passenger right behind the dog sled owner, who sits in the front of the sled to control the dogs. On the tour you drive in a varied and hilly terrain where you truly experience sled dog workability and the driver’s skills. The half day tour goes to the viewpoint Qiterlinnguaq, where you can enjoy the beautiful snowy landscape after some strenuous climbs. Just below the top is a funny hut shaped like an UFO. The UFO can be entered if requested, and can actually be a nice place to have a meal. We do not recommend any dog sled tours to people with back problems. Remember to comply with the distance rules. Before the trip keep a good distance with the sled, and when the driver allows you take a seat, you can seat yourself on the sled. When coming back from sled trip, say goodbye to the driver, and then keep a distance to the sled. These are safety rules, when considered how the dogs can act.
